OUR 7TH ANNUAL HOCKEY
DAY IS FAST APPROACHING!

As we look ahead to fall, there are certain things we can always count on; the leaves will change colors, the cottages will be closed up for another winter, the great Canadian game will start up in full effect and of course, the Kellsie Memorial Hockey day will once again bring us a fun-filled Saturday at the beginning of October. This year will be our 7th annual tournament and it’s hard to imagine that we’ve made it to this point, but when you realize the dedication of those who year in and year out have made this day this day the rite of passage into fall, it all makes sense. Last year’s mix of hockey day vets and plenty of new faces shows just how important this day has become and this year will be no different.

In 2010, we will continue to build upon the “Kids Skills” program run in part by the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Development Program, as well as our goal of raising significant proceeds to be donated to Safe Communities Foundation. Last year’s introduction of a 1st aid orientation for all the kids was a pleasant success and we will once again re-introduce it along with a special invitation to Toronto’s local police to talk to the kids about community safety and how important it is for them to know how to recognize and react to their environment.

As we have for the last 6 years, we are grateful to again find our home at the “NT” Arena, a revered Toronto hockey shrine, where many Kellsie Participants played youth hockey. Indeed, we would like to thank the Staff and the Executive Committee of the North Toronto Hockey Arena for their continued support.

This year, The Pilot tavern at Yonge and Bloor will once again play host to our after party. Hopefully October 2nd includes warm weather, so we can all enjoy that great roof top patio we all remember from high school, woops I mean university!

As the countdown begins, and we continue to prepare, we ask that everyone RSVP soon, and that participants consider ordering a book of the promotional draw tickets to sell during the remaining summer months.
